If you’re on Repairvite, you know that the diet is very restrictive and many types of foods must be avoided.  Don’t be overwhelmed by the stresses of shopping for foods you will enjoy on Repairvite …. there are plenty of foods to choose from!

General Tips To Remember About Repairvite:

  • Keep in mind that Repairvite is a short-term protocol, usually 6-8 weeks. Keep that goal in mind as you go through this journey.
  • The purpose of Repairvite is to REDUCE inflammation in your body and REPAIR the damaged intestinal lining helping to improve not only gut function but overall immune function long-term.
  • Repairvite is meant to improve your health.
  • Eating every 2-3 hours is crucial to keeping your blood sugar stabilized and keeping cravings away.
  • You will not be eating any type of grain (gluten or gluten free) at all during the Repairvite protocol.

More Tips To Remember To Keep You Motivated:

  1. Stay focused and don’t allow yourself to cheat while on the Repairvite protocol.  If you cheat, you are making the process slower.  The worst foods to cheat with are gluten (wheat, barley, rye, malt, spelt), dairy and soy proteins.  These foods may be added back into your diet around week 4-8 in healthier people and 4-8 months in sicker people.
  2. Eat 4-6 small meals per day.
  3. Make sure you eat within 30 minutes of rising in the morning.
  4. Always have a carbohydrate, fat and protein with each meal.
  5. Eat twice as many vegetables as fruit over the course of the day.  Raw vegetables are best if you want to lose weight.
  6. Think ahead and prepare ahead!  Make a double or triple batch of something like soup and freeze for later meals.  When preparing meats, cook extra and have them the following day on a salad.
  7. Meats (from best to worst):  fish, wild game (venison, bison), chicken, beef, turkey, pork.  4-5 servings of fish a week is recommended.  Avoid farm-raised fish.  Smoked salmon is acceptable.  Vary the other meats in frequency.  Cured meats like ham, bacon and sausage can be eaten but not as an everyday staple.  Organic, grass-fed, free range is best.  If it’s wrapped in plastic or packaged you may not want to eat it.
  8. Vegetables:  fresh veggies are best.  Multiple colors are even better.  Eat at least a couple of servings of raw veggies per day, which will give you lots of minerals and vitamins.  Focus on what is in season.  Do not eat vegetables from cans.   Kale is a versatile lettuce that works well in salads, sautes and soups and is highly nutritious! Sweet potatoes are allowed but no white potatoes.  If you crave a grain with your dinner, try cooking sweet potatoes in various ways (sliced and baked for example) and adding this to your dinner plate.
  9. Salads:  choose dark green leafy lettuces like kale, spinach, or spring mix.  Avoid iceberg lettuces altogether.  Add many different veggies to your salad and top with a protein (grilled chicken, fish or beef).  Nuts and fruits are a great addition to salads.  Avoid bottled salad dressings.  Choose vinegar and oil or seasonings to spice up your salad.  Juice from 1/2 lemon or lime makes a great dressing for your salad.
  10. Fruits:  2-3 servings per day.  Keep in mind that fruit is a sugar source and sugar addicts can easily eat too much fruit.  Frozen berries are okay, in small amounts.
  11. Eggs:  only if allowed by Dr. Green.  Choose farm fresh, no egg substitutes.  Yolks are good for you so eat them!
  12. Drinks:  water with lemon is the drink of choice while on Repairvite.  Seltzer water, herbal tea and kombucha tea are also okay.  Stevia is the sweetener to try. Coffee and alcohol are not allowed.  Almond milk and coconut milk are good replacement for dairy milk.
  13. Cooking oils:  saute with olive oil.  Also, coconut oil is a great alternative to use at high temps when cooking.  Coconut butter (soy free version) is allowed and a great addition to your sweet potato.  Canola oil, vegetable oil, corn oil and soybean oil are all not allowed and are generally bad for you going forward.

    I have to do a cake tasting in a few days and I have just started repairvite. Should I stop the diet and begin again AFTER the tasting or should I continue on knowing I am going to have a day full of sugar within my first 7 days?

      If you have started the Repairvite diet, I would not recommend going off of it until the diet is over. I cannot give medical advice as you are not my patient however the typical Repairvite diet has you go gluten, dairy, soy and egg free along with grain free. If you have a food sensitivity or allergy, eating gluten even once can be very dangerous for someone. The issue isn’t sugar itself as much as the proteins in the grains or food reactivities you may have. Hope this helps and good luck!

  2. I know lemons and limes are ok – is pure orange juice in small amounts ok on the Repairvite diet?

  3. Eggs don’t agree with me so I have a hard time at breakfast. Any ideas?
